Definition

Kill percentage is the fraction of attack attempts that directly win the point. Calculated as Kills ÷ Total Attempts, it measures raw attack power without penalising errors. A 40% kill rate means 4 in 10 swings result in a kill.

Kill % vs hitting efficiency — what's the difference?

Kill Percentage

Kills ÷ Total Attempts

Ignores errors. Shows how often you score. Good for understanding raw finishing ability.

Hitting Efficiency

(Kills − Errors) ÷ Total Attempts

Penalises errors. Shows net impact. The NCAA standard — use this to evaluate true attack value.

A player with 15 kills, 10 errors, 30 attempts: kill% = 50% but efficiency = +0.167. The kill% looks impressive; the efficiency tells the real story.
